HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd has launched the HSBC Living Business seminar
series, which is intended to help small and medium-sized enterprises
(SMEs) become more competitive and productive. In a statement yesterday,
HSBC said the programme will help SMEs by incorporating socially and
environmentally sustainable practice into their business operations.
Its Managing Director, Commercial Banking, David Morton said many SMEs
do aspire to implement sustainable practices, but were concerned about
the investment required and practicality of the initiatives in driving
business profitability.
The seminar therefore would be a timely assistance to provide tips
and guidance to SMEs on understanding the commercial benefits of
implementing environmentally and socially responsible business
practices, he said."Since SMEs are the backbone of the Malaysian
economy, their support in sustainable business development is vital for
building a quality environment in this country," David added.
The HSBC Living Business seminars, which will run throughout the
country will cover the economic outlook for the second half of 2010 as
well as provide insights on property investment trends and currency risk
management.
