KUALA LUMPUR: Symantec has introduced a new backup solution for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that it claims can reduce 80 per cent of their backup operating cost over five years.

The new backup system, Backup Exec 2012 and NetBackup 7.5, will help SMEs as well as large organisations to address their data protection challenges, the US-based security software group said.

Unlike a conventional backup that uses multiple technology, the new solution operates on a single system which can eliminate multiple maintenance cost borne by SMEs.

"SMEs can also save cost on staff training programmes," said regional technical director for Asia South Region Raymond Goh at a media briefing yesterday.
