China Centre To Help SMEs Trade, Promote Products [ 27-02-2012 ]

BEIJING, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- The Asean-China SME Trade Centre in east China's Changshu city, would serve as a one-stop business and trade centre for Asean's and China's small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to trade and promote their products, commodities and services.

Low Yat Group executive director, Low Gee Teong, said the centre would offer consultancy services, assistance and resources to help SMEs export their products and do business here.

"It is a one-stop centre. If you have products, you can come to our centre and you can sell them to the China market," he said.

He said many SMEs intended to export their products to China but did not know how to go about it.

Low said the centre, developed by Low Yat, was more than a business premises; it was like a bridge to boost Asean-China trade ties.

"With Changshu government support, it will not be difficult for SMEs to do business here as they could enjoy attractive incentives and other benefits," he said.

Low said the strategic location of Changshu city also provided logistics support.

It is about 3km from the Changshu river port, which also supported Shanghai port, he said.

Changshu has a gross domestic product of 172 billion yuan (RM82.5 billion) in 2011, and was elected by Forbes magazine as China's best county-level city in 2011.

He said the trade centre would organise promotional programmes every month to attract tenants, he said.

"The company will hold roadshows in Asean countries, including in Malaysia, to promote the trade centre," he said.

The project, which completed its first phase last year, covers 65,000 sq m and cost an estimated 650 million yuan (RM315 million).

Low said the centre has over 200 commercial retail shop lots and ample parking space.

It will be officially launched in May.
