KUCHING: A seminar on Sarawak investment will be held here on July 28 to provide the latest updates on government policies, incentives, facilities and support services available to the business community in the state.

The one-day ‘Sarawak Domestic Investment Seminar 2011’ is being organised by the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (Mida), SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp Malaysia)and Ministry of Industrial Development Sarawak (MID).

The seminar is also to highlight investment opportunities available to investors and provide a forum for the business community to network with government agencies, Mida said in a statement here yesterday.

A total of eight working papers will be presented by government agencies and companies during the seminar, which is expected to be officiated by Chief Minister, Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

International Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed will deliver the keynote address.

The working papers include ‘Investment Opportunities in the Manufacturing and Services Sector in Malaysia’ by Mida, ‘Developing Competitiveness of SMEs Through Integrated Programmes’ by SME Corp and ‘Strategic Trade Act (STA) 2010 – Facilitating Trade In a Secure Trading Environment’ by the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (Miti).

According to Mida, the seminar is free for those interested.
